Mahato – Kurmi Adivasi Community to Start Agitation in Demand of ST Status

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 23rd July, 2017: The Adivasi ethnic community people have still not received any ST status from the Government. In demand of that the Mahato Community among the Adivasi tribe has decided to go in for agitation. An organization named Uttar Banga Kurmi Mahato Kalyan Samaj organized a meeting in this regard at Banarhat Tarun Sangha Bhawan. In the meeting, people from the community came from various areas of Dooars and Siliguri. Those students of the community, who have scored good in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examination was felicitated by the organization. In the meeting, the dignitaries present were President of the organization Mr. Mahadeb Mahato, Secretary Mr. Binod Kurmi, Advisory Members Mr. Panchu Kurmi, Smt. Asita Kurmi, Mr. Mahesh Mahato, and others. The president Mr. Mahadeb Mahato said “We are planning an agitation including Adivasi People from Dooars. The agitation will continue till the demands are not met”.
